There is evidence to show that employing your hands whilst in stressful situations may actually prevent you from harbouring too many visual memories of the event thereby avoiding the worst excesses of post traumatic stress disorder.
So this afternoon I joined les tricoteuses as I sat by the metaphorical guillotine that was England v Portugal and a penalty shoot out defeat and my sock crept down to completion and ready for some very appropriate Kitchener (your country needs you) stitching of the toes and interestingly I don't feel in the least bit in need of counselling.
Now I must quickly start the other one whilst I watch Andy Murray play at Wimbledon.
