It would be churlish of me not to share a few pictures of the scene that greeted us for our first daylight evening at our local monthly reader's evening at Hotel Endsleigh. We've had six winter months toiling up the long drive in thunder, lightening and torrential rain and dashing in to tuck ourselves up around the log fire and talk books.
Suddenly the sun shines and we can see the gorgeous views and the stunning Humphrey Repton gardens.
Next month we read Mistress of the Arts, Rachel Trethewey's fascinating book about Georgina, Sixth Duchess of Bedford and how she came to build her little holiday cottage in Devon. Then we will have a wander around the house and the grounds and follow in the irrepressible Georgie's footsteps.
