Two blokes, one bookshop, no idea.
I have plenty of links to Bookseller Blogs over here >>>>> and I take great and vicarious enjoyment in reading them because secretly working in a bookshop has to be the best job ever.
Even more I love following the birth of a new bookshop.
Mark and Nicky at Mostly Books kept the most enlightening blog about theirs and I followed every step, offering all my helpful advice for the labour and the birth along the way, don't wrap books and eat Cornish Pasties at the same time, don't stick huge irremovable electronic tracking device patches in the back of every single book etc etc.
So it's good to see another bookshop being hatched and a blog to go with it and this time the birth is to be in Wood Green, London (lads, lads what's wrong with West Devon? All that fresh air and lovely scenery? ) and to replace the rather short-sighted closure of Waterstones there recently.
I didn't think I knew where Wood Green was, except when I looked it up to get my London bearings it would seem I must almost have lived there but clearly didn't take much notice.
It was the 1970's and we lived in a student nurse flat in Haringey right near the dog stadium, so the only time we ended up in Wood Green was if we fell asleep on the Piccadilly line tube after night duty and missed our stop at Manor House. If we were really out for the count then we knew nothing until Cockfosters at the end of the line and that happened more than once.
Hell hath no fury like ex-Waterstone's staff dumped it would seem and Simon and Tim mean business. You can read a guest post over at Me and My Big Mouth.
Wishing them good luck and of course we'll all be urging them on towards opening day, meanwhile the search is on for premises.
