It's Canada week here this week.
Probably not anywhere else, just here, but I happen to have read a couple of good Canadian books recently so my thoughts on those will appear, but also, Mrs KevinFromCanada is in the country, and even better than that is in the county. Sheila is on a walking holiday across Dartmoor and Exmoor with two friends Jill and Sally who we met on their visit here last year.
It's quite complicated this year because I am going to pick up with them for a half day's walking mid-Dartmoor, mid-week, but I am so looking forward to catching up with all the news, and I must remember to tell them that the blueberry bush they bought us did survive the harsh winter, just as Jill said it would,
and even better we harvested a little crop of fruit from it about a week ago.
So add in the Giller Prize longlist announcement which always shoots the CanLit onto my radar more than usual and it all seemed like a good week to fly the maple leaf.
Talking of KevinFromCanada, he and Mrs KFC have come up with something generous and innovative to celebrate Kevin's second year of blogging. An initiative in partnership with Calgary's up coming writer's festival which I'm looking forward to hearing about when I meet up with Sheila later this week.
So without more ado, let Canada Week celebrations commence.
