Well, not for ever, only for an hour this coming Tuesday afternoon, February 14th at 2.30pm, but I am delighted to have been asked to be a guest of @ViragoBooks this month, and to join in with Twitter discussions about the Virago Book Club current reading choice, Damage by Josephine Hart.
Just to recap here's an extract from my thoughts here earlier this month...
'....A man possessed and consumed by obsessive love, the boundaries of power and control blurred and behaviour distorted by a potent and slavish love affair. Lashings (sorry) of rivalry and jealousy and plenty of self-delusion that somehow those involved and bound to be hurt by this will accept and understand when they eventually find out....'
For anyone who tweets there is still plenty of time to read the book if you have it handy, 230 pages of un-put-down-able well-spaced type though do remember to have the de-fib handy for 'that moment'.
In order to be in the zone, and now that I have finished Possession and have that swirling around in my mind waiting for thoughts to gather and surface, I will be doing some more Damage this weekend (re-reading) and have been reading another novel by Josephine Hart. Sin is also republished as a Virago Modern Classic... a woman possessed by an obsessive envy who will stop at nothing to get what she wants and the NY Times blurb is spot on, I am indeed looking on ' with mingled shock and fascination.'
So if you can join us it would be great to see you there, I'll be making a pot of twittertea naturally, there will be virtual tweetcake and the Virago team will be joining in too, just head for @ViragoBooks and use the #VBC hash tag. Now this may make no sense whatsoever to non-twits, so please do e mail me if you'd like me to decipher that for you and do a quick tweetorial.
I'm wondering if anyone has read Damage since I posted about it... if so I'd love to know what you thought.
