If you are in London I can certainly recommend a visit to Spitalfields Market.
A feast for the eyes if you love bric-a-brac, or if you have run out of pigeon-racing certificates and rosettes or hanker after a Bakelite wireless...
or perhaps you have run out of knives, or are most annoyingly missing that one crystal drop from your chandelier, or you fancy a rummage around some old photos...or you want to create your name out of old print blocks..
or perhaps you want to add a new song to the repertoire..
or you have felt for some time that life is just not complete without a cat on your head...and I'll admit I did a double take and had to give this a gentle poke just to be sure (yes, dead)
or perhaps you are just browsing without purpose as I was, and soaking up the atmosphere and the colour.
A note for anyone who is Pinterested or for anyone who may be wondering what is this thing called Pinterest... it is a pin-board style photo-sharing website where you can create and manage theme-based image collections. You can find my embryonic pinboards here or by clicking on this button which is also on the sidebar over here >>>>>
Currently you can add and share any pictures you may particularly like from here to your own pinboard using the pin-it button at the base of each post (keeping in step with the zeitgeist) and dovegreyreader will automatically be acknowledged as the source. Though Pinterest is not about self-promotion I do take far more pictures than ever make it onto here so it might be my repository for some of the excess, a sort of virtual version of the suitcase on that stall. But already I am seeing a few pictures extracted, re-shuffled and gathered together under new headings like Patterning and adding more form elsewhere, and thinking it might make me look even more keenly through my camera lens.
Meanwhile to see how it should be done check out Kate, who I know visits here sometimes. Now Kate really does know a thing or two about this Pinning lark, and if you are a Pinner too please add your link in comments and this novice will trail around after you to pick up some Pin-tips and nab some of your pins.
And if you think the last thing the virtual world needs is somewhere else that demands your attention, and eats away at your time, then please just ignore all that.
PS The Pinterest button now reduced to this because the larger one just didn't suit my decor...
