I just think I must have been hiding in a dark hole or something because on our recent trip to Bristol the Kayaker said..
'Come on, I'll take you to see a Banksy,'
and I was the lemon who said,
' What's that then?'
It wasn't that I didn't sort of know, but it is a name and an art form that has hovered just out of reach of my interest, sufficiently over there for me to ignore it, and for those of you who may be wondering too, Banksy is a Bristol born graffiti artist of some considerable worldwide reknown.
Well I have now seen my first Banksy...
and sadly this one has been paintballed...honestly, someone defaces a wall and it's alright, and then someone else does it and we all have to go 'Tsk, hooligans' which all makes me wonder at which point any of it becomes acceptable art.
Now have I got this right... is Banksy still anonymous??
In which case how on earth did anyone paint this, high on a seemingly inaccessible wall in one of Bristol's busiest streets and no one noticed... or said 'Excuse me, what do you think you are doing?' or thought to see what he looked like.
Anyway I am now very Banksy aware now, though still likely to make an idiot of myself in any in-depth conversation so I will rely on all of you to fill me in on the detail...
