Ringing up to make an appointment for the annual dog-shearing I was quite relieved to hear that Tom, at Animal Magic Dog Grooming, had 'gone mobile' since last year and would therefore pull into the driveway in his brand new van and do our pack at home. This would be much easier than loading, transporting, delivering, leaving, collecting, loading, transporting and so there was much excitement in the kennel when the day dawned fair, sunny and warm.
Nell and Rusty had been pawing over Harper's Barkzaar and Dogue (thank you Jzzy for that one!) all morning for styles, fashionable ear length, the latest in tail layering etc and as you can see, Nell, a little reluctant last year, soon settled into the pampering session and her pawdicure...
Forlorn and unimpressed by the bath or the bubbles, and we'll gloss over her time under the dryer
But she emerged looking all shiny and new with her lovely best ears on,
Rusty adores any sort of attention to personal detail so he was in his element, in fact almost asleep, emerging an hour later looking like a bit of a sweet-smelling, sultry Adonis I think you will agree..
We managed to persuade Father & Daughter to pose briefly...Nell, flaunting her new untangled, freshly shampooed ears, is smiling because she had already been for a dip in the muddy trough...
and then off they went for a scamper through the long grass which they always love for that first post-shearing moment.
