The Maria Problem

My first entry in the film category for the blog and prepare for the very worst confession to date, I adore The Sound of Music. There I've said it now.
Sit me in front of the walking down the aisle scene and my eyes will fill up with tears, and the Edelweiss rendition in the packed auditorium, oh yes, and the bit where the car won't start because the nun has half the engine under her habit.I'm on the edge of my seat for that.
It will therefore come as no suprise that I will be watching "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" on BBC1 tomorrow evening. Viewers votes will choose the new Maria for Andrew Lloyd-Webber's forthcoming stage adaptation scheduled to open in the West End in November, the trailers have been hilarious.
Nor have I ever been to a Sing-along-a-Sound-of-Music because no one will go with me, I can't think why.I almost managed it, a group of press ganged friends who all chickened out when they realised I was serious about the matching outfits made out of curtains.
Might have to go as The Lonely Goatherd.
