Well, we've been up to the Village Hall to stage our exhibits and what a buzz; who says life doesn't get exciting in a little Devon village. All the tables set up and covered with white cloths and people busy arranging raspberries and rhubarb, displaying dahlias, pinning up photos, all the children sorting out the miniature gardens and that class I had completely forgotten about, a room in a shoebox.I used to love making those.
Always a good time to chat to people you haven't seen for ages and for me someone always waves across the room and dashes over to remind me I was their health visitor when the baby was born and then proceeds to point out a child now aged about 12. I never forget the names of the children so I was taxed, had to ponder a minute but was right again this morning, and it wasn't an easy name, Alethea. Enough to make me feel ancient though.
Meanwhile here's a hint of the competition from The Tinker, he's far too clever for his own good. It's a tapestry rug but who could bear to tread on this? It hangs on his wall.
A strong contender for Best in Show surely?
The raffle and presentation of prizes is at 5.30pm and there is a very special local hero doing the honours, this has involved a touch of reincarnation but he will be wearing his doublet and hose I'm sure, more of that later.
