I always follow The Waverton Good Read online.
Waverton is a remarkably well organised village that reads and each year they declare a winner from a longlist of chosen books.Books can be picked up from the village shop, the hairdressers and are passed around and review forms are completed. They loved JS&MrN in Waverton that's for sure but last year's winner was The Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka.
Transita books had a runner up last year with Linda Gillard's Emotional Geology and have 4 titles on the long list this year so big congratulations to them. But my delight is total to see that this year's long list features The Extra Large Medium by Helen Slavin, the winner of last year's Long Barn Books First Novel Prize, congratulations Helen, very well deserved, big round of applause, take a bow...now get back to your summerhouse and finish the next one!
Excitement mounts as we approach the announcement next week of this year's Long Barn Books winner.Well it does here because I've read the shortlist and also the news that Simon & Schuster have options on publishing the paperback edition of the winner and may also publish the others.
My lips are sealed but oh what a fabulous feast of reading you are all in for.
