I can't tell you what a relief it was to know I was not alone.
Nothing worse than thinking you are the only sufferer on the planet, so it's been a comfort knowing that all you Six Year Old Knitters are out there lashing and lassooing the wool around the needles clutched snugly in armpits.
Six
episodes of Strictly X Factor Come Dancing (both incidentally feeling a bit lack-lustre this season, X Factor might as well stop now and just give the thing to Diana and not an ounce of fun or charisma on Strictly this year) and I've got a bit of a
backlog of garment component pieces to press and block and stitch
together, the Rowan Big Wool cardigan and the Rowan sale wool
sleeveless thing which I've now stopped calling a Tank Top because
everyone looks at me a bit strangely.
So two whole things "finished" which means as a reward surely I can start loads of other things?
All
that wool is suddenly demanding to be used, this Colinette Prism ( Toscana) has been
half-made, frogged, washed and half-made again more times than I care
to confess. Such a divine colour that I can never quite make up my mind
what I want it to be, it's most recent incarnation as half a cardigan stymied by the fact I can't remember which pattern I was using, then
one sock which came out at a Size 12 men's.
Talking of socks could someone living near SW10 0RJ please consider making the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us and go and visit this new shop and report back? Socktopus looks like very dangerous territory for all SYOKS-ers and we need a reconnaissance mission first. Don't worry to check out the mail order, I've taken that arduous research upon myself and until that "research" arrives I'll just be glad to get this Colinette converted into a
permanent and wearable feature.
Meanwhile here's the first SYOKS gallery and some members' work in progress and pretty impressive it is too so if anyone else feels praise-needy, or would like to be shamed into completion the advice and encouragement of all those other SYOKS members, just send in the pics.
Next week I might pluck up the courage to show you my Alafoss Lopi pink elephant.
I think we can all agree Louise has been socking it big time and I think Alan Bennett will be thrilled with these, is that called entrelac and are those the nice Brittany Birch needles? Oh yes and can you name that rainbow wool Louise? We like that here.
And I love those conkers and pom-poms, nice touch.
Now we come to Janice.
Right then, just LOOK at what Janice has been up to. Heavens to betsy, it's happened to us all, beguiled by the temptations of instant pattern-gratification wool Janice has been knitting socks thus deflecting from the needs of that genuine heirloom standard Fair Isle jumper .
Now we all love and adore socks here but what do we all say to Janice?
We say WE WANT SLEEVES...WE WANT SLEEVES...
