Alright, I'll own up since someone has asked... of course I have a copy of Knit Your Own Royal Wedding on order, though I am a bit worried about the timing. The book isn't published until later this week so that leaves just four weeks, probably sufficient unto a corgi or two, though I may cast on the Queen for good measure and I do think a knitted Archbishop of Canterbury could be just the thing.
The only way I can see to get good mileage out of all this effort in the years to come is for it double as a Nativity set so I may have to add in a knitted tea towel for Her Majesty and lamb substitutes for corgis, and then there's the headache of deciding who should double as the Three Wise Men. Archbishop Rowan's in, and possibly William and perhaps Philip.
In fact I am a sea of indecision with my knitting at the moment. All jumpers finished, socks chugging along as always and having visited a friend and sat amongst her knitted mermaids, border collies and mice I opted to knit some 'things' for a change and sent for a few books.
Books with patterns for flowers, fruit, vegetables and cakes arrived and so the dilemma was between knitted cup cakes, victoria sponge or a pumpkin, but then Knit and Purl Pets by Claire Garland turned up. Twenty patterns for "little pets with big personalities" and now I'm torn between Itty the guinea pig or Socks the lop-eared rabbit, but then the knitted chickens look really must have too.
Please don't ask why, or of what use, because I have no idea but have no fear the minute I cast on Rowan Williams you will be the first to know.
