The world and my e mail inbox has been in a flat spin about GDPR in recent weeks, and I expect yours might have been the same. This, for those who haven’t noticed, is all about new EU legislation surrounding data protection.
I have been doing my research to be sure that dovegreyreader scribbles is compliant in any way it needs to be, so firstly please award me a medal for ploughing through reams of irrelevant information, scaring myself half to death at the thought of a massive fine, even thinking maybe I’d have to stop blogging, before realising that I think all is well.
Typepad have assured me that I don’t need to do anything and that they have taken steps to ensure that typepad blogs are compliant but I have still double and treble checked just to be sure.
For those who have subscribed via the email link that process is a double opt-in process and each email offers the unsubscribe option. It is all handled and processed by FeedBurner not me. The consensus seems to be that if you have done that and can unsubscribe at any time, and I don’t process that data in any way all is well.
The only time I access your email address (which is password protected and only visible to me on my behind-the-scenes Typepad dashboard) is when there is a prizedraw and I need to contact winners, or via PayPal to write and thank anyone who has donated via the ‘donate’ button. Addresses are not stored afterwards which I hope offers some reassurance concerning these aspects but I will put a reminder up about this on any future prize draws. In the interests of not-taking-any-risks-with-data I have decided I will no longer send out individual thanks to donors via a PayPal address. That goes against my religion but please be assured I am very grateful for your ongoing support at the moment.
If anyone knows any just cause or impediment etc please do let me know if you think I need to do anything more, or if I can offer any further reassurance.
